What is the particulate filter?

In accordance with new regulations set by the TFL all vehicles over 3.5t will now have to adhere to tight emissions standards. All vehicles older than October 2001 or with engines lower than Euro III must be fitted with a particulate filter or face having to pay the £200.00 a day charge to travel within the Low Emission Zone.

We are currently fitting particulate filters to a wide range of vehicles using high quality filters produced by Clean Diesel Technologies and accredited by The Transport For London .

Frequently Asked Questions:

How does the filter work?
A diesel particulate filter, sometimes called a DPF, is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine.

How long does the filter take to fit, and how long will I be off the road?
Average fitting time for the filter is roughly two days. This includes taking the vehicle for an emissions test to gain the required L.E.Z certification.

What maintenance does the filter require?
The Clean Diesel filters are particularly popular as they require little if no maintenance. Unlike other manufactures where the filter needs to be sent off to be professionally cleaned with potentially lengthy down times. We can carry out a yearly filter clean right in our own workshop at a convenient time to suit your schedule.
Other than the yearly clean all you need to do is keep the Platinum Plus fuel additive topped up. Simple!

What does the filter cost?
The cost of the filter varies according to each specific vehicle, but prices are usually in the region of £3200.00 per filter. (excluding fitting costs, and the initial L.E.Z certification.)

Are there any running costs involved?
The beauty of the Clean Diesel filter are the low running costs. A 1l bottle of Platinum Plus fuel additive lasts for approximately 3000l of diesel, and retails for £50.00.
